Concerns are defined as to trouble, to worry, or to disquiet. Schools are the place where concerns begin for most of the people in our world. We look at our students and how we are preparing them with the expectation that they will develop every aspect of the whole person. In order to prepare the students for life we as educators must ensure that we are making an effort to help the children find their identities. We teach them meanings of specific items that they will need to be successful, but the children do not always know why they need these items to be successful. In my research I hope to find the best ways to ensure that our educators help the children develop their identity along with teaching them what they need to know. I hope to determine which needs to come first. Finding out who they are or learning what they need. I ask these questions, Do you learn because of who you are? or Do you find out who you are because of what you know?

In building a curriculum it is important that we think of all the aspects that need to be in it. Right now the only curriculum that I know has only factual knowledge in it. There are many reasons that curriculum is this way. The biggest reason being the standards the state gives us every year. By having an all knowledge based curriculum we do not always make sure that we help develop the second part of it. In order to make sure that we develop the best students possible we must find that balance.
